Recap: Career Development Forum
Over 80 students and young professionals gathered at uCity Square yesterday for an energizing afternoon at the inaugural Career Development Forum. The event featured networking opportunities, speed interviews, one-on-one resume reviews, and professional headshots, along with two standout panels: “Honing Your Transferable Skills,” included Phil Brooks (Graduate Philadelphia), Michelle Ottey (CIC), Vishal Goyal (BiteLabs), and Atul Shah (Philly Health Link); and “Cool Jobs in STEM and How to Get Them” featured Rachel Fong (Integral Molecular), Lindsay Fitzpatrick (Genuine Search Group), Ahmed Barakat (Monell Chemical Senses Center), and Michelle Cully (PA Dept. of Economic Development).
Alongside these sessions, attendees were supported by workshop leaders and career coaches from Penn Career Services, Drexel Career Services, Artly Working, local employers in STEM, and professional headshots by Hannah Yoon, making the forum both practical and high-impact.
Participants walked away with several actionable takeaways including the importance of keeping your LinkedIn profile current, prioritizing mentorship relationships as your career evolves, and being mindful of how AI and other emerging technologies are shaping all fields. We thank all the panelists, workshop leaders, employers, and the photographer for lending their time and expertise and helping make the day so meaningful for our young colleagues.
