The University of Pennsylvania mRNA pioneers Katalin Karikó, PhD, and Drew Weissman, MD, PhD, are named among other leaders, catalysts, and pioneers on the 2024 TIME100 Health list, a roundup of the biggest gamechangers in the field. Their research, which began decades ago, came to fruition protecting the world from COVID-19 a little over three years ago when mRNA vaccines were rolled out across the globe. Their partnership has been etched into history with a multitude of awards and recognitions, including a Nobel Prize late last year.
