Ascendance Artwork Unveiling & Dedication
uCity Square, in collaboration with Mural Arts Philadelphia and led by Studio Cooke John Architecture and Design, will unveil and dedicate a new, permanent art installation, located at The Square (37th & Cuthbert Streets).
This immersive, multi-sensory canopy was designed incorporating the community’s voices and encourages a sense of connection and belonging. Central to this project is a unique soundscape curated by Nina Cooke John and project collaborator Yolanda Wisher with a score composed by Kendrah Butler-Waters.
The event will include remarks from Councilmember Jamie Gauthier, Jane Golden, Executive Director of Mural Arts Philadelphia, and the artists; the soundscape premiere; a poetry reading; an original dance performance; screen printing; and light refreshments for the whole community.
Event is free and open to the public but pre-registration is required.
